Good evening my friends. I'm over in the Ozarks at the moment , and loving the way my 08 Ultra is handling, and pushing it way beyond it's limits obviously. Keep hearing a scraping sound on occasion, and wondering what scrapes first. The floor boards, or the engine guard bars? I've looked for marks, but can't seem to find any. Which is it? If I remove the lowers along with the engine guard, will it give me more lean angle? Or do I need to toss the floor boards, and go with foot pegs? Damn shame I can't corner as aggressively I want to! Your opinions, experiences, recommendations.
On my 'King, it's the bottom of the foot boards.
Some lower bikes rub elsewhere.
If you remove more stuff for more lean angle, soon you will be rubbin' yo elbows!
foot boards and exhaust tips. ive got scrapes on both but floor boards usually hit first on the outer rear corner. if you use foot pegs instead of floorboards you can catch your heal which can pull your foot out and drag you down. if you want to go lower than your floorboards will let ya then maybe mod them to where they will pivet up kinda like the rear pegs do. its your bike ride it how you want
To each their own, why do you want to ride a touring bike like that? Why not just get a sport bike thats made for that style of riding? Common knowledge that you can push your bike way past its' limits time and again, but that one time you need something from it and there is none to be had, well, we just buried a riding buddy, who was a very experienced rider. I figure you can guess why.

On my 05 Glide it's the foot boards first and then the foot board supports. The foot boards fold up and then the supports hit. Be careful not to push it too far. I was riding the Ozarks several years ago and made that mistake, went down and did a lot of damage. I got out of it lucky, the bike not so much.
Ditto, foot boards, feel the outside edge of them, mine are a little rough,, 08? You think that handles nice? The 09 and up have the new frame, and 200 rear tire,, they handle even better! Have fun, and keep the shiny side up!

Foot boards dragging are not that far down,, and not pushing the "Limit of the bike" These things hold tight now,, tires are better etc,,, however you CAN go too far, check out the video I posted in the thread, "How low can you go" ,, a guy on a nice SG at the Dragon,,,
The boards touching are my warning, and I stop there, if you don't want to lean the bike in corners,, buy a trike?
on both my '03 and '13 eglides, the floorboards rub before anything else and if you lay it over to far they will rotate up long before the engine guard touches. Try for yourself in the grass by gently letting it lay over. but the farther you go the heavier it is to get back up.
Yes, you can go too far,,,,,Watch the slow motion replay at the end, go frame by frame, I'd say that corner was manageable at that speed, he wasn't looking THROUGH the corner, he was looking straight ahead it appeared,,,, so he quit steering the bike,, then when he was too far, he tried to save it by putting his foot down? Ewwwww, thought his leg was broke first time I watched it,,
