Default Contrast agitators

Do all contrast agitators tend to peel or flake? I wasn't sure if it was an ongoing problem or if there was just a bad run somewhere in the earlier runs of them.

I hope not. I bought one for the front of my Road King. I guess if it does happen I will have it powder coated all black.

i have had the contrast agitators on my bike since new (a little over 2 years). i do not have any flaking or peeling going on. one thing that i do notice is that the edge where it transitions from chrome to black it seems like it has been 'machined' in some way so that it is not a sharp transition where the chrome could peel. it's hard to explain, but if you look at the edge, it almost looks like someone went over it with a tattoo machine or engraver....

They are all like that, from what I can tell. I've had them for a couple of years, mine are the same, but thats the way they've been since I put them on some 15K miles ago.

And even still, unless you get right up close and look for it, you cant really tell.

I love the look of the contrast Agitators.

Back when I bought my Agitators the peeling and flaking conversations
were going on strong. It actually steered me into buying the full chrome
Agitators. With my luck they would have peeled or flaked. LOL.

Since that time I have seen several sets here locally and nobody I know has
had any peeling problems.

That being said, I am very happy with my chrome Agitators. If I knew then
what I know now I probably would have purchased the contrast version.

My 2012 ultra has the contrast knuckles 28 spoke, black powder coat to chrome. The chrome is peeling off in 3/8" dia. pieces. The chrome and powder coat does not completely meet and aluminum oxide had formed under the chrome. Going to full chrome and new tires this winter.
