Hey new to the forum and have a couple of issues with my bike wanted to know if someone could help?
1. My bike has no issues with a cold start, but as it warms up it gets difficult to start at times backfires on deceleration and has a metal on metal sound when trying to start from time to time it's sporadic .
2. It has been hot in Mississippi however something else I have noticed about my bike is that it seems like it's running on one cylinder after two or three stops and as the heat rises.
Sorry for the descriptions of my issues but it's the best I can do hopefully I can get some help! Thanks in advance everyone
Let me comment on #2 - it's designed to do that, and it's called EITMS. It basically uses the rear cylinder to cool the front one when stopped. This is a good thing. As soon as you apply throttle, it should switch to normal mode.
Probably should've been more clear about number two. I'm traveling between 30 and 85 miles an hour and notice a difference it sounds and feels like it's pinging and struggling to even respond to throttle input
Can be a weak battery symptom or loose or dirty battery cable ends. Also there is a stall test for a bad compensator, which can cause this symptom. Crankshaft sensor can behave this way also.
Truble we'll need a little more info on your bike like any mods and any work recently done.
#1 sounds like your compensator is going bad and is wreaking havoc on your starter clutch.
#2 needs more info.
