Ride-Str8
Comparison of Ride-Str8 to other products
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ride-Str8’s linkage restriction is located 4 inches behind the rear wheel swing arm axle, placing it closer to the rear wheel axle, thus providing greater control of the torque induced movement of the swing arm that causes the rear wheel wobble. This is one of several elements that set Ride-Str8 apart from the competition. See Figure 1 to the right.
Similar products available on the market locate their restriction point 6 inches in front of the rear wheel swing arm axle and below the transmission oil pan that places the restriction point below the swing arm plane of movement making the control of the torque induce movement much more difficult to control. In addition, the location of the restrictor lowers the ground clearance of your motorcycle causing significant limitations for making right hand turns, going over speed bumps or just using a lift jack. See Figures 2 and 3 to the right.
Keeping air-cooled engines running cool has always been a priority to maximize mechanical endurance and performance. This is why Ride-Str8’s product does not interfere with the transmission oil pan cooling ability. Other products available on the market require you to encapsulate the transmission oil pan trapping air between their product and the transmission oil pan. This trapped air acts as an insulator interfering with the cooling ability of the transmission.
An additional plus is that Ride-Str8 does not require any special frame straightening tools or special installation tools. All you need to do is follow the detail color pictures that come with our product. Installation can usually be accomplished in less than 2 hours.

I think this might be what you are looking for, I have heard of some people having problems, I have not yet on the RK. My friend has these on all three of his Harleys and swears by them.
Here is the web-site for Ride-STr8 stabilizer bracket kit. There is another one called Tru-trac, but it takes up more ground clearance than the STr8.

Look at the other. They are welding a brakwt to a a HD part. Welding to a cast part... Not good to weld disimialer metals.
I am not a mechanical engineer, just some who is now dedicated to helping others not loose their lives over this peoblem wit the touring frames. by the way, I am now a distribuotr for True-track
Michael,
Yes, I am welding my bracket to the OEM bracket.
The OEM bracket is not made of gray cast iron, and is fully compatible for TIG
welding to my 1018 Cold Drawn Steel ASTM A108.
The answer to your question in regards to the welding is, NO absolutely no problem.
THANKS for your interest; I am confident that you will be impressed with the quality
and the ride performance improvement of my product.

You part is being talked about on www.hdforums.com one comment came up, thought I
would ask you... are you welding your part (steel) to a cast harley part??? any
problems with welding two different metals like this?? Thanks,, Michael
What do you think about your installation and ground clearance, also now that you have had some more time with it.
Also who has one of the ridesrt8 kits installed and what do you think of the change in the bike.
Pricing is comparable.
Thanks for the feedback, just want to clear up my wobble insecuretys

Another good question, I got on the forum this morning to address an issue that I had yesterday with the True Track.
I was pushing it through some corners and got into a series of bumps, it was a right hander, and the dog bone part of the True Track bottomed, hard. While it helps with stability, it does lower your groung clearence on the right side a little.
And being that it is aluminium it didn't even make a spark show!
I like the added stability but am not to crazy about the lowered ground clearence. I may have to look into the other one, damn, another $400.

I have never had the wobble either, on my well worn ex-police bike. Though I have only gone more than 85mph a few times.
Can any expert welders out there comment on Ride Str8's reply to Michael's question about welding to cast parts?
Jeff
