I saw this on amazon with the RAM mount and X grip...Is this what folks talking about ??? RAM Mounts (RAM-B-174-UN7U) Combination Brake/Clutch Reservoir U-Bolt Mount with Universal X-Grip Cell/Iphone Holder
Well that happend to me last week. You can see in the video that the upper left of the phone was not in all the way. I'm sure that is what happened to me too. After it fell off I had to get off the highway and get back on, and back off again and back on to get back to my phone. Lucky me day. The case got all scratched up but no problem with the phone. I will always double check the phone in the X mount from now on.
I got a ram mount set up from kuryaken. As for charging the phone. If you have a streetglide here is what i did. I got a tbags 3 pouch windshield bag. In each side pocket i wired in cig lighter plugs. Then i had a bad battery tender so i cut the wires and tied 1 end into the cig socket thats in the fairing. Ran it up behind the windshield plugged in the other end into that and done. That way if i have a reason to take the windshiel bag off i can do it without tearing eveything apart. I also have a sirius satelite radio so i need a power source anyways so now i have one for my phone and sat. Radio. Hopefully this gave ya some kind of an idea
ranger73..I checked out the Riders Claw and VERY impressed with all the videos I have seen and one with Ken the designer of the Claw. I have been on two trips where I have had to dodge a couple buddies phones bouncing down the highway at me. In both instances these phones were in X type holders but brands I'm not sure of. The Rider's Claw also comes with a both short and long aux cable for either left or right mount. A very nice piece also and USA made !!!

It's phone specific and case type specific. The phone would have to move a lot to fall out, like upside down. Full side coverage and a snug fit.
I don't have a mount for my phone. Don't trust any on the market as of now. As for the charger. I got a usb plug that plugs into the battery tender. Works great. Leave the phone in the saddle bag and just close the lid on the cable. Bluetooth sena to play music and waze app into head phones.
