10. Breather systems - DK Customs crankcase head breather kit

I noticed that oil and gunk were accumulating inside the throttle body. I used the CRC intake cleaner and installed a discrete external breather. This allows clean air into the intake, increasing performance and engine longevity. No issues mounting on the Rushmore intake cover also. The kit comes with a 6' hose for flexibility in filter placement but will continue to experiment for best location.

Below are pictures from the DK Customs website.

11. Maintenance - For peace of mind, 3 holes were serviced with AMSOIL synthetic (engine, XMSN, and primary). A mandatory when buying USED motorcycles. I also replaced the basic wear and tear parts and replaced them with Screamin Eagle products - brake fluid, fork oil, spark plugs, and plug wires.

Every time I drain the engine oil, I use this Scavenger tool to safely remove 24-32 oz of dirty oil in the sump and around the cylinders of the engine. The Scavenger pushes the dirty oil out of the bike by supplying fresh oil through the engine pump and re-routing the dirty oil to avoid contamination. Very easy to do, plenty of youtube videos.

All in all, with a few bucks spent for maintenance, my bike runs smoother and better.

12. Shoes - to retain the old school taste of the spokes, had to replace the tires with white walls. The white contrast popped with the rear stock wheel on black plastidip. Hopefully a pair of CVO extended bags will cover more on the rear. The front tire is 120/70/21 and so far no rubbing on the fender. Unlike the Avons that I had previously, it expands during hot temp. I also went a tad wider rear tires (150/80/16) without clearance issues.

13. Run brake turn (RBT) lights - the integrated tri-bar tail light is not enough for rear lighting so I installed these Plugz from custom dynamics. These turn signals replaces the antenna grommet for that inconspicuous look. For safety and lively lighting effects, the Kuryakyn RBT module converts the Plugz to run-brake-turn pattern.

14. Grips - Continuing the old school flavor and to complement the white wall tires, I went with these cool HD nostalgic white grips. Inspired by the grips on classic HD motorcycles, these rubber grips have a comfortable hourglass shape with a chrome accent ring and a molded in “Harley-Davidson” logo.

15. Rear suspension - Very happy after trying out this 11.5 standard spring shocks from Progressive. Compared to the stock 12" air shocks, these shocks did the job by lowering the stance and improve the dampening characteristic. I removed the lowering bracket installed by the previous owner and used the stock mounting points to avoid swingarm or rear suspension failures. Continually enjoying the ride after dialing 2-clicks for my weight. Can't beat the price and ease of installation of this set-up.

16. CVO bags - always wanted the CVO style bikes. Surprisingly, VTwin offers bags with OEM quality and affordable price. My painter said that it was easy to paint with minimal preparation so he gave me a sweet deal in labor costs.

Lowered the front suspension by 1.5" with one small spring and one clip of the Progressive monotubes. This mod corrected the brake dive and mushy response. It has that sportier feel but not to harsh of the ride. The rear suspension was also lowered by using an ebay lowering bracket which gives 1" lower than stock. Eventually the rear suspension will be upgraded with a better set-up.

What brand was your old exhaust? I'm putting 6" bags on my bike and trying to figure out what kind to use. Do you still have ?
