The only time I feel that extra weight is when I pick it up off the jiffy stand. It feels much lighter when you're moving. I know several women that ride touring bikes. Go for it. You'll love it
Same here. I went from a dyna super glide to my ultra classic and it was a much easier transition than I thought it would be. But I am 6ft.
5'6" 114# woman here with a 29" inseam. Went from a Suzuki C50 (about 550# and an 800) to an '06 SG (prior to my current SG). Used a narrower seat and lowering kit to get it to where I was comfortable.
Extra weight was noticeable at stops, picking it up of stand and backing up the first couple of days. But, it wasn't a huge difference - certainly not what the actual difference in weight would suggest. I got used to it in a short time and think nothing of it now.
