Men,
I need some advice regarding my 2012 SG.
Currently I have Rinehart mufflers, stock headers and SE AC.
I ordered a set of flutted CFR mufflers and should have them by the weekend.
In another month or so, I'd like to pick up V&H power dual headers. But, I'm wondering how difficult installing the headers is.
The manual doesn't seem overly difficult but I don't want to screw up my ride.
Does anyone know of any video's showing this process? I tried Youtube but didn't find anything.
My thought process is, I currently have a download from the dealer for the muffler. Swapping out the Rinehart to the CFR's is no big deal. I'm planning on getting a Commander V from Fuel Moto. So, the last part is the Headers. I really would hate to fork out cash to a mechanic for something that I can do myself and with the advice of the gang here.
its not a hard install at all, I would also suggest harley exhaust gaskets, If your looking to buy a tuner from fuelmoto you should look at their 2-1-2 headpipe, it is a very nice pipe.
go to youtube and search for jackpot 2-1-2 headpipe install, I know it's not V.H. but it will give you a idea of what is involved, the main differences are the vh come with new flanges where the pipe bolts to the exhaust port, there is a bracket that mounts below the "six speed"cover for the pipe to bolt too, and a different crossover and clamp/bracket for that, along with all new heat shields, also I believe there is a extra thick washer to space floorboard board out a bit. grab your instructions and a set of helping hands, take your time and all will go well, make sure to check for exhaust leaks when finished. Have fun and enjoy! yes I'm a big fuelmoto fan so for pretty much the same price I would order their headpipe, I would also consider the power vision over the power commander 5, give them a call they are very willing to help you out, their customer service is hard to beat.

I'm sure they make great products; however, I'm not a fan of that header. I prefer the sound of the V&H and CFR combination.
Not hard at all. I like the OEM HD gaskets. Put them in the freezer for a few. Make sure you properly torque the exhaust head bolts. Re torque after a couple of heat cycles.
Pulling the old ones off can be a pain too. Those mufflers are on there.

Hey Don, I'm not taking any advice from you. You twisted my arm and convinced me to purchase all that Biketronics equipment. Lol just kidding
