I just switched from HD 60w to Shaeffers 20-50w yesterday and measured my head / cyl temps ( hottest area is exhaust side where heads and cylinders meet. This is before and after the oil change.
Before: 90 deg and bike good and hot, riding solo. Up to operating temp I measured once engine is turned off (within 60 sec.)- 355 rear / 335 front.
Changed oil, had 2,200 miles on it.
After: 90 deg and bike good and hot, riding two up this time. I measured once engine is turned off (within 60 sec.) - 300 rear / 285 front. Wife says bike sounds quieter
BTW Jason's Fans not on at all during this test.
That's all ...... Let the games begin
$12.95, I was at the dealer. The Shaeffers rep was there and told me where to buy it cheaper so I will check the real price next week. The cooling results are worth the extra $ if you ask me.
