Tank Dings!!!! Help???
Not sure if the neighbor I'm feuding with, decided to mess with my scoot, but I have a couple/few small pinky nail sized dings on my tank on the underside, left and one on the right. (Time to get a cam out in front of the house).
I know that objects kick up off the highway fairly often, and have caused a ding on the tanks' rightside. And now I've got 3 in total. I definitely heard the one on the right side happen. The 2 on the left could not have happened without me hearing or feeling the "ting"on the tank... This is why I might suspect the idiot down the block. He is that much of a d-bag.
Anyway, I digress.... Has anyone successfully used a paintless dent remover to get rid of these small dings? Or does anyone know other ways to get them out without draining the wallet for a bunch of c-notes.
Kind of glad that I didn't take care of the one on the right side yet, as it'sa couple of weeks old now. And now the new ones on the left "arrived"just this past weekend! If I fixed the right and then the left happened afterward, that would have been really agitating. So there is an upside Iguess.
Seriously bummed....
Let me know plz.

It is tough to get dings out of the tank if they are more than half way in. I had mild success removing a good size dent (not ding) out of a sportster tank I owned years ago. I heated up the dented area with a heat gun and sprayed it with a can of keyboard cleaner (compressed CO2 I believe). It removed about halve of the dent, but that was it. Just be very careful with the heat gun, too much heat and the paint will bubble and come off.
You can do a google search and a bunch of options will pop up on youtube that you can watch..
Good luck.

Paint less dent repair doesn't work on fuel tanks like you would think. Car panels are thin steel, and it can be done pretty easily , tanks are very rigid as far as steel goes, and there are compound curves everywhere, so they are very strong.

How noticeable are they? If they are on the underside I'm not sure if I'd spend the money to fix them. Just guessing but if the neighbor wanted to mess with your bike he'd put a dent in a more obvious place like right in the center of the tank on the top. But then again I don't know your neighbor.

That^ they are very hard to pull dents out and almost impossible to get anything in the tank to aid in pushing them out.
You should go down the street and put a few dings in the idiot's *** you spoke of, just to remove that possibility from the equation.

Last year, the son's girlfriend dropped her bike and it went down on her knee putting a orange size dent in the tank. We pulled it out with a sliding hammer glueing the attachment to the tank with hot melt glue. It's on Youtube. I am sure the paintless dent guy can do it as long as it's not creased or stretched badly
