Tanks are pretty cheap if you shop around,getting it painted not so cheap.

Neighbor probably didn't do it. All kind of debris hits our bikes. You definitely will not hear everything that hits your bike. Just take it as a battle-scar and enjoy the ride. Luck has it get a new tank and a week later a new dent. Just ride.

Rocks get kicked up to the underside of my tank pretty regularly, along with the batwing, and front sides of my saddlebags.

Frustrating, but it's just something I've learned lived with as the miles get put on it.

It may not be the neighbor, at all.
