Hello everyone! I have a 2006 FLHT-I and have been watching ebay for months to find a used HK radio to fill the gap and get some tunes. Finally found one at a reasonable price ($500). I installed it yesterday and had the dealer calibrate it todayAll is well but I have afew questions I hope some of you can answer.....
I noticed when the INT or COM buttons are pressed the screen says see dealer for installation or something like that (no surprise there)
When I press NAV it says NAV system starting, insert NAV disc, can't find antenna (not exact wording but you get the idea)
Does it say that onradios without GPS or am I to believe that I scored a radio withthe NAV module in it?
On the back of this radio there is an extra connector that is blue and looks to be some type of antenna connector.
Is this the connector for the GPS Antenna??
and finally... If it is the NAV system where does the antenna go, what does it look like, and how can I get the discs?
you probably just have the base radio without the intercom or GPS modules. look in the HD P&A book for these modules. really espensive. I'd go with an aftermarket GPS (Garmin) or other before i would the HD. the HD is limited in features as opposed to what you can get elsewhere.
if it is asking for the NAV disk then that option is installed, you will need the disk and the antenna. the antenna mounts under the fairing on top of the radio. I would check prices because the HD Nav is limited and for the price of the disk and Antenna you may be able to get an aftermarket unit with many more features.
Beside what everyone has already stated.... Ever think you could really see the LED display\screen on the radio's monitor??? Buy Aftermarket get a 3 1\2" or 4" screen...
I went by the dealer and they printed me off a set of factory installation instructions with a parts list of what would be needed to complete the system as it appears that the module is installed. I realize that the screen is tiny and the GPS is not very good but if the module is in there completing the system may be worthwhilefor resale at some point if I make the jump to an '07.
