Default Engine cooling fan

Hey, has anyone have the HD engine cooling fan that mounts where the horn is. If so does it really work or worth the $400 somthing price tag. Thanks.

Can't comment on the fan, but doing a Stage 1 cured the heat issue for me. Makes it a lot funner to ride too.[sm=escape.gif]

When I lived down in Florida I rode with a couple of the lifelong Floridian residents who had these fans mounted to their Harley's. Both of the guys loved them and told me they wouldn't ride/live in Florida without one installed...

I have the H-D cylinder fan and the H-D premium oil cooler. I recommend them highly. They work for me. The way I see it, every little bit helps.

I don't know what you're riding, but I found out after ordering one, that they do not fit the '07 96" motor! You'd at least have to fabricate a new lower mount. I sent mine back. I sure could use it here in the summer.

They work to a degree, pardon the pun. While monitoring my head temps while the bike was sitting and engine idling, with fan off I would watch the head temps get up to 300 deg F. Then I would turn on the fan and watch the head temps decrease to 280 deg then the temps would slowly strat rising again. So they do work somewhat but not well enough to hold the engine temps down to a certain degree range like a fan on a car. If I did much hot parade or traffic jam riding I would have one. When was the last post here about someone having a meltdown do to not having an oil cooler or fan?

uhm.... actually last year I had an '06 RKC. Riding from Fairfax VA to DC. I got stranded a number of times due to the bike bakeing out. The bike was bone stock, no add ons with syn3 in it. The engine heat sensor worked on that bike great. Its amazing how many cigarettes one can go through sitting on a bike trying not to look stupid on the side of the freeway during rush hour.

I had a HD cooling fan on my 03 Ultra and took it off. I suppose it does the job of cooling but it makes a hell ofa noise, even when it's not blowing any air. It made me nuts.

I just installed a fan .....but this one was a 12 to 24 volt fan that came out of a ABB robot panel (same as a computer cooling fan ).....i installed it behind the air breather. was square ...... rounded of the top and bottom corners on the grinder so it could fit in and be invisible ......hooked it up to the accessorie power switch ....blows air all around the fins ....and Quiet too ... Works well
