Trying to use Vance and Hines duals on my 04 roadking, the system was previously on a 2011 bike. I found that the oil pan is different between the motors and that I can't currently fit the pipes on mine. Would it be a problem to use a newer model oil pan? Will there be a difference in oil compacity?
The oil pan on a '11 is the same as yours, so I don't think that is a solution. You can confirm by checking one of the on-line parts websites. I suspect the mounting to support the cross-over pipe must be on the trans housing, which is very different to yours. There is a member who has adapted a cross-over system to an earlier bike, but finding his thread may be a challenge!
The mounting point on the two frames are different as the frames were re-engineered in 2009. The exhaust you're trying to mount won't work without a lot of modifications. Easier to start over and get the right set-up.
When selecting new parts, think over changes and revisions to the models which may affect fit.
You can always run those ideas past here, as some of the Guys have a good idea of what-fits-what.
you can easily fit exhaust systems which are made for about 1995 to 2008 models on your bike.
2007+ have o2 sensor bungs which would need to be blocked
2009+ have a different frame...which is wider in the rear section and as you are seeing has a "crossunder" pipe for the left side muffler rather than the older style Y pipe at the rear header.
you can make that stuff fit ( and it has been done, there are threads you can search for) but it will cost you time and money.
