Mine were supposed to show up today. Got the new tire on while I had the bags and shocks off and all jacked up. They didn't show. Maybe tomorrow!
Ok, I got the shox and set them up at 3 for me and did a short putt. Not too bad at all. I set them at five and took mama to lunch, too stiff. I went down to 4 on the way home and mama liked it much better. They are not perfect but way better than stock, and I only have about 50 miles so a comprehensive analysis is out of the question at this time. As I play with the setting 1 & 2 up, I'll get a much better feel for the riding quality. I did some little twisties while alone, and the bike feels much better thru the corners. It felt totally stuck to the road in the turns, but then again, I didn' want to get too rad on the first time out on something new, time will tell, but pretty good so far!
Assuming they actually sit lower than stock, as some folks have reported here, what was the rationale for not getting shocks with the same fully loaded ride height as stock?
I just put some on today and didn't really notice a ride height change. I didn't have to re-adjust the mirrors-- go figure! I did however feel the front suspension a bit more than before. You feel the road more through the bars, but with only about 50 miles, I can't give a definitive opinion yet.
Looking for feedback from all that have the super Shox. I've been looking at progressive and Howard's Ohlins but having difficulty making a decision.
I can't speak to the Super Shox because I have never tried them. I have had the Progressives, JRI's and now the Ohlins #6. Both the JRI's and Ohlins were from Howard. The Progressives were marginally better than stock, but that's not hard to do, the JRIs were a definite improvement over the Progressives and the Ohlins are just flat out heads above the JRI's. So take it from someone who has spent way too much on shocks. Get the Ohlins straight off and be done with it.

I believe the folks that are interested in the Super Shox and this thread could give a rats *** about Ohlins and Howard.

That sounds similar to my first reactions I had with the Pro-Action shocks I just removed. I felt the road more through the bars, seat and floorboards. Also made all bumps feel sharp. I was expecting a smooth ride but was never able to dial them in. I think I'm going to try a pair of Super Shox (13") but I hope they meet my expectation. I'm looking for smooth with good handling. The Good thing is they have a 30 day money back guarantee.
I'm interested in SS and like hearing other perspectives. Why would I not want to shop/consider other brands?
Because there's enough threads about the other brands, use the search. This thread appears to be about experiences and opinions on Super Shox from those that have purchased them and want to share. Posts like (paraphrasing) "I've tried everything but Super Shox, save your money and buy X brand" really don't add any value here. There's lots of threads already for everyone to circle jerk about Ohlins and Howard.

"Use the search" theory....we might as well close this whole forum. I mean it's all here right? Even the experience from the OP, has to be the same as Previous SS threads right?
Seems logical to me that we talk about other brands that offer competing products.
Sorry for the off topic replies OP, I hope the Super Shoxs serve you well!
I have a pair of 13" Super Shox on my 13 RGU. After the first 10 miles I didn't know what to expect and had exaggerated expectations. After several hundred miles on riding every bad road I can find in South Texas I am very satisfied with these shocks.
I like the subtle responsiveness of the shock and ease of adjustment of the Super Shox whereas I could never get the Ohlins adjusted at this level of satisfaction. For me, the recommended settings graph is amazingly accurate.
While no shock is absolutely perfect the Super Shox is an excellent shock.
Brian is absolutely great to work with.

I like a soft ride so I went last night with the setting on "one", by my self and did a 60+ mile run through the back roads here in Louisiana.----- "sweet"-- comes to mind. I would definitely bottom with wife aboard but by myself --- Very nice riding and responsive to boot. As someone else mentioned, now I have to make the front match the back. It's not that the front is any worse, it is that "now i can feel the front more because I no longer feel the back as much".
