Found a pretty decent deal on a left over 2015 road glide standard in it the color I want, mysterious red. But as we were working numbers someone else put a deposit on it. They weren't sure if they wanted it, and wanted to sleep on it. They have until Monday night to make a final decision.
$3000 off MSRP, but wouldn't budge on prep and freight. The trade value I got was on the low side, but all in all not a bad out the door price.
They are going to call me on Tuesday to let me know if they take it. They have 1 other left over, but it's a blue special with a bunch of stuff added. It's priced @ $27k (with the 3k discount), too rich for my blood. I prefer the standard with no pin stripes, and the regular radio.
If things work out, and he decides not to buy the bike, I'm wondering what the dealers reaction will be if I ask them to swap my slip ons. I would just pull them off with my other goodies before the trade, but I have nothing to put back on.
Put the mufflers from the 2015 on your bike. Nothing lost in asking them to throw in the labor for the swap. At worst you swap the mufflers at the dealer. Loosen 6 bolts and hit the muffler connections with WD type oil and your done in under 30 minutes.
I'd be a little fumed at the whole situation. If the other guy bought the bike, that would be one thing, but to lock up your sale on someones "maybe" is not the way to conduct business. I would make it clear to the manager that you came in and dealt with good faith because you thought the bikes were for sale.
I had a similar situation at a local BMW motorcycle dealer. I went in to buy a bike, and in the process another salesman informed my very nice sales lady that his buddy was taking the bike out for a ride. Walked out with cash in my pocket, and have not been back since.
If they have seen you bike and made you a trade offer WITH those items on it - doubt they would allow take anything off - but who knows..
BTW - what is their Freight and prep cost???
Prep and freight is $1200, steep in my opinion, but they are discounting quite a bit. I told them up front that what I still have from stock form is going back on.
