Some Harley mechanics will use a metric allen in there and strip it out for you. First day of class at tech school should be powertrain SAE everything else metric. Or maybe it is laziness.
That's why I do my own service. Had too many techie stripped bolts throughout the years.
A 1/4 hex or a 5/8" SAE socket will fit the primary, transmission or crankcase drain plugs. All 3 are the same.
A hex key will fit in the center of the plug or the SAE socket will fit the outside of the plug. Pretty handy.

It's in a note in the '07 manual in the section for changing Primary Chain Lubricant.
The OP Has an '05. The primary drain is an Allen head facing out, not the hex head facing down we have starting in 07. #22 in the photo

So I have no more information than I did when I posted this. I have a service manual and I have tools . I just need to know what size torx or Allen wrench to use . In 2005 they have a small plug that comes out of the primary horizontally . It's not like the newer models with the drain bolt on the bottom .
