I have a 97 Electra Glide Classic that has the rear lowered 2 inches. I'm going to lower the front to help balance the ride. I've noticed that they have 41mm and 39mm. What does the 41 and 39 stand for? Also if my research is right I would use the 41mm.
Those numbers are the size of the fork tubes. You have 39mm and the brand new bike (2016 and maybe 2015...not totally sure without looking) has 41mm. 39 mm was used for many years before the latest change
There's basically two ways to lower the front. You can either use lowering springs or you can use lowering cartridges. Progressive Suspension offers both.
I went with a Progressive Drop-In kit and got mine down 1.5" from stock. It rides well and is quiet. I tried the HD kit and it was a piece of sh*t. It rode really hard and was noisy. I have no idea what the noise was, but it wasn't anything I did on the install. Changing that stuff out is pretty straight forward and hard to screw up.
Actually 1997-2013 touring models have 41mm fork tubes and 2014+ have 49mm tubes. The progressive monotubes are a popular item and will drastically increase the handling abilities of your bike. I have them in stock ready to ship for an extremely good price right now.
$325 shipped until I sell out what I have. If you have questions please call or if you would like to order call as well. Yes I run these on my bike too. It is a night and day difference compared to a stock front end.

Do you have them for the 2014 SG's?
