Yes, all about replacing the 2 year only (as i understand) fuel filter for the fuel injected 2000 and 2001 bikes. I have no intention of converting to carb. I'll rig up a different filter before I'd do that. Just a little miffed that i can't do the preventative maintenance I want to do. It will always be in the back of my mind...when will it start sputtering. It's also a great selling point
Your right I typed it in wrong ..damn no lines glasses the number is 61343-00 and they show it available but is not the dealership said he contacted Harley and they do not manufacture that filter anymore so guys with 2000-2001 efis should change to carbs, Harley had no answer
This truly does suck. I have my 2000 Ultra Classic FI apart for total repaint. I guess I'll just cross my fingers and run the old filter. I'll replace the lines, crusty zip ties, screws and gasket and move on. Sure wish there was a aftermarket filter for 61343-00
Well, cars and trucks run their fuel filters for hundreds of thousands of miles, so you'll probably be just fine.
There is also going outside the box.
This for example. Seems that it probably will fit, but may require some fiddling or such: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/126-424
Maybe the hoses aren't right, but the filter itself seems to be the right type.
Alternatively, use a more generic intank filter and wire tie in it place. All it's got to do is sit there and filter fuel, and that's not hard to do. Even if it's not done with an oem filter. You could even do an external filter instead and just run a single fuel line inside the tank.
Thanks! Seen that filter foxtrapper. Going to work on the tank this weekend. I'll take a closer look and see if that filter is a good candidate for the 2K filter.
