The 07-08 FLH's have a 34 - 46 tooth primary and a 32 tooth transmission, 66 tooth rear wheel sprocket for a final 6th gear ratio of 2.79.

Going to a 32 tooth engine sprocket changes the final ratio to 2.96, a 30 tooth engine sprocket changes the final ratio to 3.16 and take the engine 6th gear RPMs at 70 MPH to 3250 RPM.

Evolution Industries has an 07-08 30 tooth engine sprocket for $295. I have yet to find a 32 tooth. When I pull my engine down for the new build, I would like to go to a 32 tooth sprocket if I can find one.

I can cruise 30 MPH in 5th on somewhat level surface. The best part is I really don't need to downshift to accelerate either!!!!!

I don't think so...

To all:

I have a light weight FXR (>500 Lbs) and I am going through this gearing thing. I have a worked 113ci TP evo with a Rev Tech 6 speed. I just changed the final gearing to 0.86:1 from 0.89 (6th). I received speeds/rpm’s out of my old set up with a 17” X 140 880 Metzler tire which is close to a 16” 140.

I have presently a 3.37 final w/o the 6 speed. =
[ul][*]Engine Sprocket/24T,[*]Clutch Sprocket/37T,[*]Trans Sprocket/32t,[*]Rear Wheel Sprocket/70T. [*]I had a 0.89 final for these speeds.[*]I have a Digital Dakota tack/spedo (mini) combo.[*]I set my MPH on my 2500 brand new Dyno so it is exact. It is true & I triple checked it.[/ul]When I did the calculations, @ 2.6K RPM,:
[ul][*]I am suppose to be doing 66.23 MPH but the tack indicates 2.6K rpm is around 60 mph. [*]At 3K rpm I am calculated for 76.49 MPH but I am doing a true 70 mph. [*]I have counted every gear/pulley and they are true as well as my tire circumference till my eyes crossed. I measured everything. [*]Being a worked and light weight bike I can pull the wheel off of the ground by just cracking the throttle around 1500 rpm’s.
[/ul]MY question is can a tach be wrong? I am going for a 34 trans sprocket right now to get some cruising speed & lower my RPM’s at 80 mph. I did the math, used many tables but still they do not coinside with each other. Ideas? Right now I have a 0.86 final (6th), a Front Primary 24T, Rear Primary 37T, Transmission Output 34T, Rear Wheel Pulley 70T, & a 17" X 140 X 90 Profile ME 880 = Rear Tire Diameter: 25.7

" I am expecting 3,000 rpms @ 84.02 MPH. What I will get is another story. See you before the weekend I hope. I bought a new belt also, to be delivered.

Any Ideas?

I didn't state that it was a rocket from 30 to 40 MPH......

Interesting but true. A co-worker has a 2001 w/ 3:37 and a second co-worker has an 05. The 05 can't seem to catch the 01. I know how gearing works and will be doing the swap on my '06 FLTR.

I had a 4x4 with a V8 4.10:1 gears that yielded 12 mpg as expected. I did a gear swap to 4.56:1 for power reasons and not only did it deliver more but my mpg's went to 17mpg. Now you can call B.S. but that is what I got. Which makes me want the 3.37 even more............... Food For Thought.

Trust me, I believe you. But as you can tell from some of these posts, there are those who will say it's BS, but they haven't had the experience.

I did it, I reported it, and I KNOW it's true.

Found a couple riders that don't like their 3.37 gearing and want to change out to 3.15. So that means I will have my parts for the swap (minus that gasket and fluid). All I gotta do is change them out for the guys. So looks like I will be busy next week. But I will be set for the Frog Jumps next weekend.
