Slip off
I remember reading in here some time ago about someone who had just installed some slip-ons and they keep coming off. Well, I just purchased some Pythons slip-ons and they keep sliding off. I have tightened then on as much as I physically can but it doesn't help. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks....
IF IT'S A TOURING MODLE... MAKE SURE THAT THE MOUNT ON THE TOP OF THE MUFFLER IS NOT CONTACTING\RUBBING THE MOUNT ON THE SADDLEBAG SUPPORT BRACKET - ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE SLIDER ON THE MUFFLER\SADDLEBAG BRACKET IS STRAIGHT AND THE RUBBER IS LUBED... ONLY OTHER THING THAT DOES HAPPEN IS THAT THE HEADER PIPE IS NO LONGER ROUND OR PUSHED BACK AND NOT MAKING THE PROPER SEAL
Just dealt with this same problem yesterday- go buy 2 new clamps from your dealer for $10 each and your problem should be solved. The clamps stretch each time they're tightened and H-D doesn't recommend reusing them.
tpaqolfnut, I'm surprised to hear of your problem. I have Python slip-ons on the stock pipes of my 06 RK Classic and have had no problems at all. Come to think of it, with them clamped to the rear muffler brackets, I don't see how they can come off. Am I missing something you said?

I got two uses out of the original clamps, and they gave up the ghost on the third use. Oh well, it was only 20 bucks & I shouldn't have to take them off again...

Thanks for all your suggestions, I will try new clamps and see if that helps. You are correct Lost1, the rear brackets do keep the mufflers from completely falling offtheyslide back off the exaust pipe just enough to hang.
