Default Mufflers Keep Loosening & Squeaking?

A few months ago I replace my mufflers with SE slip-ons on my 09 SG. For some reason the right muffler keeps backing out of the clamped area where the muffler meets the pipe. The clamp seems to be functioning correct. Each time it starts to squeak, I check the clamp. The clamp nut is always very tight, but I loosen it with a socket, slide the muff back in and tighten the clamp again. That solves the problem for about a day. Then it backs out and starts squeaking again.

The nut is not coming loose. I'm thinking about slitting the end of the exhaust pipe in two areas so the pipe will squeeze the muffler pipe better. Can you think of any easier solution?

Buy couple new torca clamps and use some Permatex Ultra Copper Silcone where pipes join let cure for 24 hrs. Torque clamps 45-60ft lbs.

This is an old Triumph trick. Drink a can of Budwiser. Cut the can in half and then drop down 2 inches and make another cut all the way around. Now you have a shim to go between your clamp and slip on. I had to do this to my Road King to keep it from squeaking. Works great.

I had this problem on a Rush muffler I had on the bike at one time, right side only. To fix it I bought another rear rubber mount (#65724-85) and positioned it in front of the existing rubber mount on the mounting bracket. This will block the muffler from moving rearward. Depending on your muffler you may need to trim it to fit. I also fabricated two crude spacers cut from some thin aluminum and rubber to go forward of this second mount to keep the second rubber mount from distorting, but this may not be necessary. The Jackpot mufflers I have now don't move like the Rush did, but I've kept the spacer in place anyway.
See photo.

Just to make sure it's not the rubber (shocking how much it sounds like metal on metal squealing), hit the rubber mounts at the rear curve of the bar with some WD40 or what not. Graphite in suspension (Lock-Eze, etc.) is even better.

My RK was driving me nuts for weeks with this horrible, awful squeaking. Ripped it all apart over and over and over until someone mentioned the rubber mounts...

Default New HD Clamps!

Come on! A new clamp from HD has to be a bunch of BS. The bike is not even a year old. I have to admit that I did not replace the clamps.

Several good ideas from you all. I appreciate it.

Make sure the clamps are not to far onto the mufflers, you should be able to see the split in the muffler behind the clamp for the clamp to work correctly...
