Well, the skuttle butt isthatin '08 we might be looking at a liquid cooled tourer. Of course, these are just guesses, but that would change things up a bit. I am sure it is coming, but I don't know if MoCo put so much into the 96/6 that they would then switch to liquid cooled. But that would be different, and a good way to pick up a good '07 cheaper. There are some of us (not me, I am happy with my '05) that just have to have the new 'thing'.

There is Nothing wrong with the 07! yea it Runs lean and a little Hotter and nise in 6th gear if you lug it but nothing to be worried about, just put some nice Pipes on, puta nice AC and Stage 1 download and it's all Good. Once i made the changes that smile from having a New Harley got even bigger.

I think a lot of it has to do with the bikes. They were brand new. I have no doubt that after almost 10k of long distance riding in the mountains this past summer, my bike hasbetter power than when new.
Mine had 500 miles on it when dynoed.
Also I took a look at the American Rider articles again last night.
Minton has not tuned the bike with any of the modifications he's done. He alludes to that in the second article. Next issue I believe he willadd either a Race Tuner or PC111.

I've been getting a bad feeling in my gut that I'm gonna fall in love with an 08 Road King. Based on the experience of you 07 baggers, if there are no signifiant changes to the 96"/6 speed, what would you do different (SERT/pipes/103/Stage 1)?
I would keep mine just the way it is.

Oh yeah, I added some goodies! See my signature. I LOVE the bike!

I've no doubt that each bike will react differently to suttle changes. I prefer my daily ride as stock as can be. Now my '07 vette ? Not !

Hey Guy, not trying to lamblast you at all, but the changes you describe pretty much take your bike out of the stock catagory. You must be referring to engine mods when you say leave it stock.

I know you won't like this but, in stock trim, the new 96 runs better when left alone. American Rider did some very in depth testing (see the April and June '07 issues) and discovered that because of the new closed loop system, the 96 actually lost midrange power with the addition of a hi flow and pipes. The gain was minimal at the low end and super at the high end. Unfortuately, I don't think many of us run at wot in 6th gear. What a deal !
No disrespect to you or your magazine...but if you add the right components...loosing power is no likely. Reducing heat, gaining torque and HP is the most likely result. Mine runs much better than stock. Personally, if I read you post right...their mistake is adding pipes and A/c without fuel management.
