Hi guys. I am considering swapping out my 1999 FXDX (lots of motor mods) for a 2016 Street Glide. How many of you came from riding performance piggys and went the bagger route? Was the loss of performance worth the boost in comfort? Any regrets not having a light/flickable bike anymore?
I would immediately add the Stage V 110" kit to the Street Glide to hopefully keep me from suffering on a slow bike, but I am unsure if it would make for a big bike that could really hustle down the road.
I have a badlander seat on my FXDX and my wife doesn't like to ride anymore due to the lack of comfort. I figure a Street Glide with a backrest would fix that.
I have never ridden a bagger so please give me the good, the bad and the ugly on your experiences making the switch.

Who says you have to be slow on a bagger? Man there are a lot of 120HP 115ft lb torque bikes around here. And some with a whole lot more power. Bagger guys got the money to do the motor mods :-)

That was kinda my idea - I would immediately go with the Stage V 110" motor and I was hoping that would balance out the higher weight on the new bike compared to what I am used to.
I do have to say the idea of not being sore when I hop off of my bike after a ride is sort of appealing.
Depends on your end goal. If you are buying a new bike and money is no object a 120ST would be the way to go. The numbers coming off those motors are impressive. If you are buying a used bike I would go with an FM 107 or 117.

This would be a new 2016 Street Glide - I figure I would cry once and throw away all of my $$$ at one time. lol
If I could get away with running the 110" Stage V and get at least 115/115 to 120/120 with a more aggressive cam than the SE-259E that is included, adding a good exhaust and proper tuning I probably wouldn't lay out the cash for a 120R. If the 110" is only expected to make in the 105/105 range then the $$$ for the bigger motor might be justified.

By the way the bike in my signature (I no longer own it) dynoed at 95HP and 100 ft lbs of torque. It moved pretty good. I used to blow the doors off of any of my buddies riding 110 CVOs and even a few of my friends riding sport touring bikes (others not so much, but I could mostly hang with them on a spirited ride).
