If it were me in your shoes the one thing I would do is have compression releases installed while the heads are off. Nothing wrong with being easier on the starter on the ol girl.

Well, I was hoping to just do the cam and the cam-plate.
Went to the Rocky Point rally this past weekend, the motor got hot waiting in line at the border. We stopped right after and waited for everyone to get across before we got going again. When I took off, a short time later, it was really hard to start. Running kinda slow and sluggish, I looked down and saw only 20 psi oil pressure. It took about a mile, riding real easy before the pressure came back up to 60-70, which was where it normally ran.
Hoping I didn't do any damage, got me home, another 400 miles that day.
