Mine does it now and then some times it may be cause it is trying to decellerate cause of going down hill. Some times it does it when I don't have my hand on the throttle.
Tried the cable adjustment in the manual. I felt sure that would fix it. But no luck, still doing it. Anybody else have any suggestions other than taking it to the dealer?
my 2010 would drop out sometimes when i hit a bridge joint, my 2013 has done it a couple of times too.....at the same place. thanks for the comment about the brake, that might be what is doing it. it comes back on when you push resume. odd yours goes off. gonna have to give the "stealer" a call probably.
I have a 2001 Road Glide. I can set the Cruise Control and ride for a bit with it on and all of a sudden it shuts off. I don't think it is in any of the safety shut off switches because it will not Resume, I have to Set it. After I have Set it, it will go for a short distance again and shut off. Any suggestions?
Try this.
On the right side of the frame in front of the gas tank is the roll off switch. You will see a black rubber cover on the idle cable. There are two conectors under the cover. Unplug them both and then try your cruise. If it works, the switch is bad. Youy will need to replace the cable. Be careful when trying this you will not be able to release the cruise by turning the throttle back.
Mine was doing the same thing so I did what Mike 79 suggested and walla the dam thing has worked for a week. I just removed one wire in the throttle switch, that I have looked at a hundred times and didn't know what the heck it was. Thanks Mike79 for the spot on solution for my problem, you saved me at least 120.00 dollars. Jj
I had the exact same problem with my 07. Tried everything that others have said. In the end it was a bad cruise set switch on handlebars. Purchased new switch, installed it, everything perfect again.
I have a 08 SG. My cruise started to shut off on me, then it wouldn't come on at all. I was checking the grip and switch area, where I noticed the lower switch box. I sprayed some contact cleaner in the openings holding a towel under it. I let it sit for awhile, been working fine ever since. It's worth a try. JR
