If you want American made buy a Quincy. The one I bought was a 60 gallon it was 1399.00. I purchased mine at Northern tools. But Quincy does have cheaper ones. But mine says it will run 50 thousand hours before the motor will need to be replaced. Ingersoll couldn't compete with that. I know it is expensive but buy quality and should last me a long time probably for ever.

Too bad. It would help some of us with our recommendation.

The recommendation was for PEX not PVC. Totally different animals. I am with you, no way would I run PVC.

Overhead hose reel should be in your plans, too.
Nice, neat, quick.
I love mine.

I went with a 60 Gallon Campbell Hausfeld. There is an Autobody Supply store close. They deal in pneumatic tools and compressors. I got it as a refurbished unit, I think it was around $500. It does everything I need it to.

Here is why I bought a new compressor. I inherited a Craftsman from my grandfather. It was always a nice little compressor. I bought a scat blast cabinet. So I did an oil change, drained the tank, put an air dryer on it, verified the blow off valve was functional. So a few weeks later I go out to do some work on my truck. I turn the compressor on, run the impact to remove the lug nuts. I walk in grab a tool, compressor starts running, walk outside and BOOM!!!

The tank let go, it jumped 6 feet from it's location between the garage doors, turned 180 degrees, and almost took out the Softail and my Buell Lightning. Knocked the trim around the doors loose, cracked the mortar in the brick, broke a window in the door, spewed rust everywhere , and smashed the studs in. Luckily no one was in the garage. I was in awe to say the least. I have another identical compressor in my barn. It will no longer be in service. I opted to get a new one. Now I know for a fact the tank gets drained regularly and oil changed when it should be. The new compressor is bolted to the floor. Eventually it will live outside in it's own enclosure and plumbed into the garage with drops on each wall and a retractable from the ceiling. So the lesson here kids, inspect your tank, if it looks even slightly sketchy, spend the money and replace it. I was lucky it didn't end worse than it did.

I'd say that unit is just about used up.

Ingersoll Rand is one of the better units & I think they have one that runs quieter than most, but is more money. I built a shed to house mine so it is quieter in the garage & the house.

Good luck, have fun.

I have the husky from Home Depot, it does everything I ask of it, including the things you listed. I have painted many bikes and cars with it, and runs my impact guns with ease.

Never a problem with it, and I've have it for over 10 years.

Great advice on not doing the PVC. Think I'll stick with old fashioned copper. Appreciate this and everyone else's advice.

I didn't mean to sound like a jerk, too much time on Facebook defending our freedoms I guess. I thought I explained what I wanted from the compressor in my OP.

What size Husky do you have? I've been trying to decide on one for my shop.
