Sportster. Great bike and perfect contrast to the RK. Nothing wrong with a Dyna, but Sporty is a different beast. An Evo would be fun too. Nothing else feels like my FXR.

Sportsters are great and can be picked up fairly cheap with low mileage. For not much more money there are lots of Dynas and Softail standards. If I were to get another bike I would look for a Night Train.

But the RKC and the Fat Bob will work for now.

I picked up a used Sportster as a second bike. It's a lot of fun.

I love this question. In the last three years I have owned a SG, 2 RKCs, 1999 Evo Softail, FJR and Kawasaki Concours. And, I just spent a weekend riding a friends BMW 1200GS.

I know you want the bike for communting, BUT WHAT ELSE?

Used FJRs and Concours are cheap and a blast to ride on curves. They are fast, but also very comfortable for long distance riding.

Dual purpose bikes are easy to jump on and ride. They are a lot of fun because they can be a nice change for getting a little dirty and their up-right sitting position can be very comfortable for long distance travel.

My favorite bike to drive local is (was) my 99 softail custom because more than any other bike has soul. But I just sold it because I'm wanting to try a Springer like you. I love the Evo engine because of its soul and it has easy maintenance, so I'm looking for a Harley Bad Boy.

But watch out, owning a 2nd bike can be addictive. You might find yourself owner a 3rd and 4th. LOL

Bad Boy is a nice bike but only made for 2 years and that was 20 years ago. They are getting rare and expensive. Better off looking for a Night Train and putting a springer on it. Cheaper IMHO. That's what I have planned but don't tell my wife. She thinks I'm looking for one for a buddy.

Default looking for...?

Here ya go. And ya won't have to spend any where near 10 grand.
But the FJR's are nicer.

Get an ex-cop bike. Make sure it's still current to what the cops are riding in your home town. For commuting, it's the best. Your drive time will decrease drasticaly. For fun, add a headlight modulator and airhorn.

When I am in a hurry to get to work, I take my cop bike.
