I like the look of the rails complements the nastalgic style of the Road King

Couldn't wait to put them on

Right on bikerlaw! My rubber bumper was old and cracked, so I pulled it out thinking I would replace it, and noticed right off it matched the road King rail.

the guards on my FLHTK have probably saved me a couple of bucks....or does...twice. I've hit two deer as they have started to cross the road. both times i was able to throttle through but my bag guards clipped the deer. no damage done to the bike. if i had have braked, i would have hit them broad side. i ride some back two lane roads on the way to work at 0300 hrs in the morning. critters all over the place at that time. i really wanted to switch them out for some of the comfort bag guards like the Rushmore's have, to give momma a little more comfort.....at those prices, she doesn't ride enough with me to warrant the expense.

On an ultra, they're just supposed to be there. I have yet to see anything with a tourpak that I would call "cool" so taking them off for looks isn't helping.... As an aside, I have that same first gen pro pipe on the shelf with the exact same yellow spot on it.......

Street Glide owners will add fairing lowers, spot lamps and a detachable tour pak to make their bike resemble an Ultra. Ultra owners remove the tour pak, bag guards and other parts for a Street Glide look. It's all good. The modularity of the Touring family is one of the benefits other manufacturers don't offer.

I added mine to the bike. Just always hated having to catch the saddle bags when I went to take them off..

My 2013 Limited came without the side rails and I also took off the bag guards, the wife needed more leg room and I like the cleaner look with them off.
Besides I have insurance for the big stuff.
