I've had good luck with Metzler for many years on both Metrics and HD. No particular reason... they just seem to work. BTW - In my part of the world... we call them Tars.
Up til now I would use the HD tire or the American Elite tire. Both handle well, do well in the rain and give a good enough ride for me. I change either at 17k miles with about 2/32s of tread left on them.
ESP with tire and wheel coverage expired last week so it'll be the American Elites from now on due to pricing.

Avon - British tyres for riding my Harleys in British and European conditions! I've used them as my main choice on my Harleys since the '70s. They are more compliant than many other brands who make Harley tyres, giving great ride comfort and grip in all circumstances.
I have Agitators, so I really have no choice but to use the Dunlops that you can only get at HD dealerships, but honestly, I have no problem with the OEMs.
Especially since my local dealer regularly runs a $200 installed special on all OEM replacements. Hard to beat that.
Been happy with the Dunlops from the get go, so I stick with them. There may be better tires out there that I will like, but since I am happy with what I am running, why try something new to find out that I don't like it and be stuck with it for a few months....?
Like my American Elites. Changed out the 407-408 Dunlop's at 15000 miles, rear toast, front probably would have went another 5000? Bikes at 26000 miles now, so 11k on Elites and look like they will go that much more again.
