Default Riding with back brake only

I was going to swap out front brake line upper on my road King with ABS. Anyone see any problems with changing it and then riding it to dealer for digi? Looks like in all the other threads people trailer them in.

Or is it plausible to ride over to dealer and slap the new line on in the parking lot, then roll it into the mechanics bay?

It all depends if you have to make an aggressive stop on the way. How lucky do you feel?

Can it be done? Probably. Should you do it? Probably not. The way folks drive around here I wouldn't ride it to the closest reliable shop only about 8 miles away. My advice is to trailer it in and play it absolutely safe. Ride another day.

Just bleed them yourself. Chances are you won't even need the dealer. As long as you don't introduce any air into the ABS module you'll be fine.

Bleed the brake line you're replacing at the fitting first. You might be done at this point. If necessary, then bleed at the inlet to the ABS module and finally at the caliper.

If you do it in this sequence the chances of getting air into the ABS module is pretty slim.

Also, do not turn on the ignition on anytime during the process until your done bleeding.

Depends on what the route and traffic patterns are like. With my proximate to the dealer I would do it without question as it is 35mph not heavily trafficked roads. If I had to hop on the interstate than no. Like the other poster said I would try to bleed them down myself. You may get lucky.

Rode my abs RK with rear brake only for 30 miles to a friends house. Take your time, leave lots of room around you.

If the only air introduced into the system is in the new front brake line you don't need to take to dealer to bleed. Remove the old line, install the new line, fill the reservoir, then loosen the new line at the ABS module and let the air run out. Once you believe all the air has run out tighten the line. Be sure you don't let the reservoir run dry. Then make sure the reservoir is full, use a tie wrap to keep the brake handle depressed and let it sit overnight. All the remaining air bubbles will work their way up overnight. Brake bleeding done, no dealer, no fuss!
