Back in 96, buddy and I did Daytona Bike Week. Open trailer. 12x14 cheapo blue tarp from local auto store(Canadian Tire, have they made it to the U.S. yet?). Put tarp down, rode bike on trailer over tarp, strap bike down, 2 king size comforters to wrap bike, fold tarp over snuggled up bike lol, wrap with about 100' of 1/4 " yellow rope, duct tape loose ends and holes where straps had to go thru. Southern Ont. Can. to Daytona Fla. Both bikes clean as they were when loaded. Lots of road grime in NY and Penn.

Take a look at an Aluma MC210. I have the single version, MC10 and it's a great trailer. Being purpose built for bikes, it is light, low and very strong. Notice I didn't say cheap. The slide out ramp and low deck make loading a breeze. It also has a built in rock guard. I looked at a lot of trailers before getting this one. As many trips as you are talking, I wouldn't skimp. Stay away from the leaf sprung, metal lawn equipment trailers. I've also had good luck with the deluxe Harbor Freight wheel chock. This and retractable tie downs speed the load/unload process quite a bit.

I have the Kendon....real nice....easy to pull. (Taurus, 2014) great ride for the bikes has tortion axle, but no breaks....never had any issues with it.

I don't want to start another thread....only heard of this but heavy bikes on a single axle with groved pavement might be an issue....(this is where groves go with the road not across the road)....trailers tend to sway.

Yes sir, same here, any trailer over 3,000 lbs gross weight.

I built a trailer to haul my Fatboy to Sturgis many years ago. It was single axle, but I put brakes on it for the hell of it. I like the piece of mind. Still have it, but it's mostly a utility trailer now. 1500 miles each way and no damage to my bike.

I am assuming this is for Bikeweek? Wish I could find the picture of a trailer load of bikes last year covered in Ice and slush and you might change your mind about an open trailer.

I am also looking for a bike trailer but, Im going for an enclosed trailer. I dont want to worry about my bike on an open trailer when I am at a motel or anywhere else. Plus..no rock chips! A buddy is going in halves with me on a tandem traler. Made the most sense, no more than we will be using it, plus, he usually rides with me anyway.
