Have also heard that some slip-ons sound great with stock head pipe (SE Street Cannon's) but not so good with a decatted head pipe.

Question 2: how do you like the Mustang Vintage Super Solo? Does it seat you back enough? At 6'3" I'm looking for a solo to move me back some. Have already added the Tall Boys Footboard Relocation kit.
I'm running 2 1/4" baffles on the BL's. The sound is a throaty bass, frankly I'm surprised how similar they sound to the Bassani's just not as loud. You won't hear that cackle like on the V&H or Reinharts. Great sound through acceleration and very tolerable on the highway. After my ride today I'm finding out it's probably good I have Stage II sound on the SGS. You always hear the rumble on the Bassani's at pretty much any speed. BTW .... the bike runs great using a PV autotune!

I am 6'1" and big, over 350#. I need room and I've been through my share of seats besides discovering the footboard extensions. The Vintage Super Solo gave me the room I needed and it's the second best seat I own .......... I have the Mustang Super Touring 2up seat and frankly it gets no better than that seat and it sets you back even more than the Super solo.

Super Touring ............

Thanks for the info Beaux...very helpful & much appreciated! Will definitely give the BL's serious consideration as well as the seat. Already had my stock 2 up seat modded by Mean City Cycle...works great for 2 up. Looking for a solo set up now.

Thanks again & Merry Christmas!

Sorry Beaux...more questions seeing as Pumpkin is set up pretty much exactly like I'm planning mine. Seeing as you're all done your winter mods, maybe you can spend the rest of the winter giving advice

I've been eyeing up the WO578's and thinking these are the bars for me. Is there a reason you went WO577's on Pepper and not the same 578's? Look to be the same width, pullback & wrist angle.

The difference of course is height...578's are listed at 10" & the 577's at 12.5". The extra height of the 577's would probably be nice but my preference is to keep the bars as close as possible behind the batwing. Did you extend all wires and new longer clutch cable & brake line with the 578's on Pumpkin? I know some say you can get away with all stock stuff with some re-routing when using 10" bars, but I think I'd like a little extra length just to be sure and better fit.

All I did was put a +6 clutch cable. The stock wires work, they just will not rest were they were originally mounted. The heated grip wires were the only real issue when pulling them through the bars with the switch wires. Do yourself a favor and remove the stock sheathing from the wires and just tape them up every 5 inches or so .............. makes pulling them a lot easier than with all that sheathing on. The tedious part is disassembly and re-assembly of the Molex connectors. Any bar higher requires wire extensions and I wanted to avoid that ......

On my 2014, I didn't wanna replace the stock lines on the clutch and brakes. The 12 1/2" ARE as far as you can go. Some say you can go a bit higher but I wouldn't want to try that .............. on the 2014 wire extensions are a must but that's $25 and plug and play!

I'm kind of in the same boat. I just got my extended fender and bags installed and it's getting ready to snow 8". I just need to find a solo seat to top it off.

Thx again Beaux! Curious as it relates to the riding experience with the 578's vs the 577's? Why you went with the taller 577's on the 14? Do you prefer one over the other? Do the 578's make a significant difference over stock?

Again, I'm leaning toward the 578's to keep my hands somewhat behind the fairing, but if the 577's are way better, I may have to reconsider.

OH YEAH!

To be honest it was a multitude of reasoning ......... Everyone I ride with has tall bars so there was some peer pressure. I've rode with stock bars for 36 years so saw no reason to change BUT I decided to give it a go. Pumpkin was the experiment, went as high as I could go on the cheap, wanted to do it myself and didn't want to have to extend wires.

After doing it I took 2 rides, each about 100 miles .......... I'll never ride without tall bars again. They open you up and give you more room, I can't tell you how much more I enjoy my highway pegs. After riding with bagger bars and then just sitting on a stock bike, you'd understand. Stock bars cramp you up and compress your shoulders. Total investment $250

AFA as Pepper, I just did the same .... minimize the investment, DIY, go as high as I could, and reduce the required accessories. Total investment $215.

Pumpkin's gonna be the tourer, Pepper is for bike nights. My brother is here from WA state and we rode in 52F weather yesterday Xmas. Bar height matters!!! I started on Pepper and my hands (with gloves) were ready for a change after 40 miles. Swapped bikes and it made an instant difference, your hands take on the temperature more with the higher bars.
