I'm sure this has been addressed previously so pardon me if it in fact has.
Looking to replace the stock and very poor headlight on my 2004 King. I've heard good things about the Harley DayMaker LED's but the prices are crazy IMO. So I've found 3 headlights that seem worthy but don't know a darn thing about them so I'm looking for input from those that have them.
I'm perplexed at what I feel are crazy prices for a dang headlight but be that as it may, I want and need better nighttime illumination. The info provided by Custom Dynamics intrigues me but the price....damn!
e code housing,30$ fuelmoto led bulb,or socalmoto gear hid. e-code housing will give a better patten and either led or hid will throw stupid amounts of light for around 100$.
I switched to the HD daymakers a few years ago when my front end got sprayed with rocks and lost 2 of 3 front lights. Must say, probably the best thing I've done to the bike. $$$ but worth it. Light up street signs in the daytime.
That being said, I got a Fuel Moto LED bulb for the GF's Sportster this year. I am extremely impressed with it. 1/5th the price of an HD unit. I highly recommend it for the price. I can actually see her behind me in my mirrors, amidst the traffic. That is what I was going for, as she doesn't do a lot of night riding yet.
I have two other options that worked for me at the right price.
Go to any auto parts and pick up a Sylvania Silverstar 7" dual beam headlight. Good light for $20 something dollars and drops right into the RK. After losing several headlights to rocks, I got tired of spending $100's of dollars on replacements.
Also look at the HD engine guard mounted fog lights. Adds a huge amount of light and safety. How can anyone say they didn't see 5 headlights coming at them?

Oh, and correct aim for these lights is CRITICAL!
