New Leather
I seen a couple of posts about riders in "new leather" which is reffering to a newbie or a rub. I've got a leather jacket that I've worn since 1981 and the d@mn thing still looks new. Do they have worn in jackets like stone washed jeans?
Like you, I have taken great care of my old leather jacket, feeding it twice a year with Lexol. I guess some folks like the worn-in look....and one could dress a mannequin in said jacket and drag the thing around the streets for a couple of miles to give it some character. Some take sand paper to the edges of the cuffs and elbows, etc. to make t look old....as if they've been riding for decades. Kinda like what we used to do to new bluejeans 30 years ago......before there was stonewash.
I spend 400 to 500 bucks on a jacket, it gets taken care of............

Langlitz buy's back their old leathers. I've had mine since 1987. Last time I was there they had 4 or five racks for resale.

I like leather, still the best rash protection on the planet. To bad it's so hot in FL during the summer and you can't wear it all the time.

Distressed Leather... Or just take yours outside and beat it to death with a chain - then let it sit in the sun & rain for days.. That has always worked in the past (lol)
Distressed leather jackets were sold in the past, I don't know about now. Harley had several models and I have one, the Panhead, but I take my FXRG on long trips. Do not worry about the jacket looking new. It's how you feel wearing it that counts. Nothing more comfortable on a long ride in cool/cold weather than a good leather jacket, beat up or new.
