I like to put things on pause late in the afternoons, and take the 'King out and about on some quiet country roads for an hour or two on what I refer to as the "Sunset Ramble". Interesting to ride by old country homes, cross old river bridges, ease thru old covered bridges, ride along side long fences enveloping big pastures, see old folks in rocking chairs on big old front porches that seem eager to wave at you. Clothes hanging on clotheslines, folks working on old trucks under shade trees, geese flying overhead, and very colorful sunsets that no two are ever alike.
No red lights anywhere. The only traffic may be an old farmer on the road on His tractor that with a blip of the throttle and a wave of the hand it's open road again.
Just a little time of peace, enjoying the scenery as the big twin thump thumps me back home.
Not a long ride, just long enough to serve it's purpose, and relax the spring just a little bit.
It's a simple Southern thing, I guess.

That's the best roads to ride on. I like the small backroads of VA.
I hear ya.
I don't care much for interstates on the 'King, so I have lots of options to get around the masses. Interesting the things you can find - from great BBQ, home made quilts, fresh honey, sometimes even a great little fishing hole!
"Simple kind of man" - I like that! There should be a song...
I do that with alittle change. I like to be pulling into the driveway close to sunset. I get there grab a cool one, and watch it go down. Yea, might be a southern thing. did it yesterday and today. weather was great. sorry snow folks wasn't trying to rub it in.just saying.
