In need of some help please. I bought a set of aftermarket chrome valve stems to use on my chromed SG wheels. Does the supplied rubber O-ring go on the inside of the wheel or the outside? I also noticed the hole in the wheel which the valve stem mounts in is quite large considering the size of the valve stem. I'm assuming this is normal and that's what the O-ring is for. Any insight on this would be appreciated.
There are 2 sizes for valve stems. and the O-Ring goes on the inside of the wheel
Thanks for the reply. So my guess would be if I have a bit of slop in the hole I probably have the smaller valve stem which is with my luck the wrong ones?
I went back to the EBay site where I purchased these and noticed it said these were for Softails.Do the touring bikes have a different (larger) diameter hole in the wheel requiring a different stem?
Back in my days working at pepboys, they sold a chrome cover that slipped on over the existing black rubbervalve stem and was held on by the cap. Don't know if they are still made, but would seem like a cheap and less painless thing to do. JMHO

RE: Chrome Valve Stems
I just picked my bike up from the dealer installing a set of chrome wheels on my SG and see that the cheapskates didn't install the good valve stems. then i was at my buddies house last night and he owns a 06 Fat Boy and he has smaller valve stems in his wheels. so i would say you are right you don't have the right valve stems.
Do you have a seal that goes over the threads and would make the vavle stem thicker and is L shaped?
or do you have a vavle stem that would just take an O-Ring?
