RE: I thought I 'd put back the 4 inch windshield .
I recently ordered an 8" Aero from Fastaire; got a note saying it would be several weeks before production problems were solved. So, I go to Clearview; got a note back saying it would 6-7 weeks for the 8" recurve. WTF?
Guess I'm gonna have to see if I can get a standard model...maybe everyone just got a new bike!
RE: I thought I 'd put back the 4 inch windshield .
Aero: I bought a pallet load of raw material, Light & Dark Grey.. supposed to be a custom run for a specific colr & hardness. Every sheet that was checked was defective in some way... Bad color, bubbles, streaks, fractured... well you get the point. Factory rep was called in, looked at a few sheets, said " sorry about that" & send it back. I might get it in 2-3 weeks he said...
Now I sit and wait... watching the lost sales go out the window and can do nothing about it.
But.. no matter when, the Aero will be made again.

I've ridden with a 9" Fast Aire for the first 3-4K miles on my 06, then did the 13" Cee Bailey 13" SSC, then a 6" Fast Aire for a while, a Clearview 8" recurve for a couple of thousand, and finally took it from about 7K to over 12K with a 7" Cee Bailey standard shaped opaque. It's just about perfect for me at 6' and 32" inseam. it keeps a relatively low profile, but has some amazing wind protection for the spring and summer. Funny but I have actually been riding with the 4" stocker for the last couple of weeks for fun. I haven't gotten out on the highway much, mostly due to the monsoon around these parts, but it's been pretty fun for puttering around. I just took a 60 mile round trip run with it on, that included speeds up to 80mph. It actally wasn't as bad as I remembered, but not something I would do on a regular basis. I admit my ears hurt a bit Got home, put the 7" Cee Bailey back on. Being opaque it looks pretty cool, but almost an inch too high to be solid black. I can see over it fine, but it does block all view fairly high up from the fairing and directly beneath you. It hasn't bothered me, but it's apparent there is a certain lack of extra visibility. I have on order a 7" dark tint from Cee Bailey, ( besides the black 7", I have a 9" light tint traditional shape and the 13'" SSC for max protection.) They are without question my favorite windshield manufacturer.

I went with the 6 1/2 smoked shield just so I could add the 3 pocket windshield bag. Didn't mind the 4 inch shield but got very accustomed to the extra caring space on my Electra Glide.
