Default Road Glide and rain

I am considering buying a new Road Glide but I'm wondering about the affects of rain water getting into the electronics of the bike I.E. the radio and instruments. I live in the Pacific North West and occasionally get caught in some rain. I don't intentionally go out riding in the rain but if I go on a long ride it can and has happened. Are there any covers that go over the radio?

While I wouldn't use a high pressure washer on the radio, or try to ride through a hurricane, I don't think you are going to have any problems with what nature has to offer as far as water goes.

These bikes were made to ride, and inclimate weather is part of the equation. I have ridden mine many miles in the rain(it seems to rain everytime I ride), and I have never had any ill effects from water.

Regards,

Bill

Wish I could give you an experienced answer (or maybe I'm glad I can't), but I haven't been caught in any measureable rain on my Road Glide yet.

I certainly agree with Bill. Stands to reason that all the electronics, gages, radio, etc. should be able to stand up to reasonable amounts of water on something with so much potential to get wet as a motorcycle has.

Thanks for answering my stupid question guys. But one never knows until one ask, some times I think HD has their head up and locked when it comes to simple things and I want to get all the info I can before I go and drop 20+ thousand on a bike.

Scott,

I didn't have to move to Florida, I get florida where ever I go. I'm thinking of going to the dry places and charging for my services when I make it rain.

Regards,

Bill

Road home in a downpour at 70mph last Monday. I get caught in the rain all the time. Of course I rate the weather man up there with Santa and the Easter Bunny.

I've had half a dozen classics and Ultras and this Roadglide. My 87 Classic had a water problem (radio controls on handlebars) but I've never had a problem since.

Of course, your gauges will fog up. They fog up in high humidity-let alone rain[:@]

I now ride a FLHTCI and my hands stay mostly dry in while riding in the rain... For the owners of later Road Glides - when in the rain,,, do your hands/gloves stay out of the rain???
