Anybody out there put Progressive 440 rear shock on their FLHT? I've got an '07 FLHTCU and the rear shocks seem to be wearing us out after 150+ miles in the same day. By 250 miles, we're dog tired from being beat up. By that time I'm praying for smooth roads so we can just finish the ride.
My questions would be:
1) did you end up putting progressive fork springs in also?
2) what height of rear shock did you go to on the prog's and why
3) was it worth the money?
4) any other comments you'd like to share.
Thanks!
EGK
I had 12" standard spring Progressive 440's on my bike for two years before I went to a Platinum air ride setup.
The Progressive's give a much better ride than HD air shocks, so do Works shocks(some people like Works better than Progressive)
When I took the 440's off my bike, I gave them to a buddy to try who has a Standard EG. He likes the ride so much better than the 13" HD air shocks that he won't give them back...........
I changed a 07 RG over to Progressive. Huge difference over the stock air. Took about 30minutes to install, one ride to dial them in and now I just ride and forget about them. I am a big guy (240) and went with the stock height with HD springs. I love them. Progressive was very helpful on the phone when selecting as well.
Doesn't sound right to me. Did you check your air pressure before/after the ride? Wonder if you have a leaking fitting. I've got stock shocks, and while they may not be the best, I sure don't feel beat up after a long ride.

If you think your 13" air shocks are bad, try a set of the 12" "low-profile" items that come on the SG and RK Custom. On a second thought, give your back a break and don't try them. Hard bumps will actually jar your spine out of place, truly awful. I have a set of 12.5" 440's coming, and I'm expecting a big improvement based on testimonials here. Unless you want to lower your bike, stay with the 13" length, as longer means more suspension travel that translates into a better ride.
