Nailed it.

I've used expensive commercial cleaners that work ok, but nothing I've used works any better than inexpensive hydrogen peroxide. I don't dilute it since it's in solution already. Just spray it on and let it set for a few minutes and watch the bugs just dissolve. The wipe them off with a microfiber cloth. A 16 oz bottle of HP can be had for around a buck or buck and a half.

+1 on the peroxide solution. I found it hard to believe until I tried it, amazing!

Peroxide works well. On my daily rider I have always sprayed the bugs down with lemon pledge. Wipe them off in about 10 min. Use it on about everything up front including windshield. Ole racer trick.....maybe not on a show bike. But it's always in my bags on the road.

Riding on the highway during a rainstorm did wonders for taking the bugs off my bike!

Now I just have to clean up the water spots and mud

Just take it to your local car wash and spray tire cleaner on it, let it set for a bit then high pressure away. Anything that's left over just wipe with a towel should work. Just don't let the bugs stay on your bike too long as their guts can pit your bike after a good while.
At least this works for me at my car wash
