I have the Harley adjustable rider backrest for my road glide on my 11 I did the non adjustable and it just didn't go back far enough for me so on my new 16 I decided to go adjustable..
I still don't feel like it has enough back travel to be comfortable has anyone modified the backrest or mount to move it farther back ? It will go way farther forward that you could possibly need I feel..
Yup, engineers think you may want to ride with it leaned forward at a 30 degree or better angle, but you do not have the intelligence not to pinch your passengers legs. Needless to say I heated the pad's leg where it is already bent and bent it a bunch more. It was a good angle and not intrusive on the passenger, but at 6'-9" the whole setup still needed to physically go back more along with the seat so I got an aftermarket seat and ditched the backrest.
I have "adjusted" both the adjustsable and non-adjustable versions by bending the post so the backrest is in the middle of the adjustment range for the rider. Either with a big vice or by placing some steel tubing on the ground to support the metal of the backrest post and a well placed whack or 2 with a hammer.
