Good evening all. I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a set of fuelmoto hi rollers slip ons. My question is : will I need to retune my bike, or is it OK to put on mufflers without retuning. I'm currently running Vance and Hines tapered slip ons, dresser duals, and hi flow air cleaner. I had the dealer do a flash tuning when I did the exhaust.
Thanks
I wouldn't think by swapping only mufflers that you'd need to change your current flash. Call FuelMoto and talk to Jamie. He helped me decide on my stage 1 set up. I got the FM dyno tuned slip ons and micro tuner from him yesterday to go with my HD stage 1 air cleaner.
EPA violation for dealer to change the A/F ratio. So no they do not add more fuel during the Stage 1 download. They adjust the timing and change the Rev Limiter to 6200 rpm. Or so I've been told my a long time dealer technician.
the key to changing exhaust systems is if the engine pops on decel, its running too lean so you need a tune. So you can change the mufflers and if it runs badly and/or pops on decel ( too lean ) you need a tune.

yep, if it doesn't run right you need to retune. Obviously the dealer was able to change the AFR on his first go round with a canned map.

Not always. The A/F ratio can be changed providing it does not cause street bike emissions to exceed EPA limits. That's why a flash from the factory is required to control any increase in fuel flow by a dealer shop and preserve the emissions compliance warranty. Some stage 1 downloads do in fact increase the fuel flow. But not always to the degree needed.
