Has anybody had issues with vibration damaging a smart phone while in an X grip? I'm thinking of mounting on on the bars of my Road King but I use poly bushings and at idle my bars shake a bit.

Also for the X grip users: do you put a rubber band around the fingers of the mount as a fail safe?

There is nothing vibration dampening about ram mounts. If the bars shake, the ram mount shakes, and the item being held shakes. Use the really long Ram arm and I can even get things flapping.

I've both the Kuryakyn mount the OP has on one side, and a Ram mount on the other. The items sitting in either both vibrate about the same.

Ram X Grip has worked perfectly for me for a over a year and close to 10,000 miles now. Almost no vibration at speed and very little at idle.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Wasn't sure if Ram Mounts had something to reduce vibrations or not.

This is what I worried about.

I may try one of the X Mounts out on my S5. I do think I'll put a rubber band around the arms though. Just a little insurance.

These devices are solid state circuitry, they don't have resistors or capacitors and such soldered in place, standing on little legs that are prone to breakage.

I'm not going to say damage is impossible, because someone somewhere I'm sure has had a phone break in a handlebar mount. I am willing to say it would be darn rare.

I even have my phone and GPS handlebar mounted on my dual sport, and have gone charging down rough trails and such where they get well beaten on, and have not had a problem.

I try to mount the mounting ball as close to the base of the handle bars as possible, that seems to cut down on vibration at an idle.

This is what I wanted to hear knowing not one thing about electronic gizmos. And as the above post stated I too am going to try and mount near the center of the bars as opposed to out on the end.
