Now that's not fair. Just because we live North of the Banana Belt and have the worlds best Hockey Teams (i.e. Ottawa Senators) you should not start hurling snowballs at us like that. (hehe)
I've only used mine once. It was to plug in a GPS. When I got home, I diconnected it and put the push button thingy back in. The next day I was on my way to the dealed for something and went through a dip in the road. I felt something hit me in the knee and looked back. I saw this shiney thing bouncing behind me.I pulled over in and back tracked to the intersection w/ the dip, the whole time seeing car after car pass me. Found my button w/ only a small nick in it where it hit the ground. Never got ran over. Apperently I hadn't pushed it in far enough to secure it in place. Now when ever I replace it, I'll push it in all the way and let it pop when done heating and just leave it there. I would have never known it fell out if it hadn't hit my knee. Didn't see or hear it come out.
I'm a smoker (I know, I know!) and knew what it was and that it could be used as a charger for stuff...but...I use it to light up! Soooooooooo...I got the "Y" accessory harness, a K-mart cigarette lighter, drilled a small hole under the back pad on the trunk, and installed a second lighter and outlet in the tourpack...keeps cell phones, Ipods, etc. out of site, secure, and charging while on the road! It is a straight ahead install and powwer comes from the ACC switch on the faring....very cool mod! (We did a simlar mod on a friend's RK and pout the light inside his saddle bag).
I had my FLHT 2 weeks, one day I was sitting on it and noticed the chrome **** on the left side and none on the right. I said to myself WTF is that? Being a smokerI recognized what it was after a closer look. When I told the wife she didn't believe me, showed her and had to tell her to never light a cigarette with it or else (I don't smoke on my bike or in my vehicles) I say good on HD for putting it on. I have a 2000 Jeep cherokee classic that has no lighter or ashtray.
