Default Program?? on odometer

I filled up this morning and went to reset the trip meter. I turned the switch on and before the mileage appeared I had already pressed the button. The odometer then read "program". What is this and what does it do? What can I program?

.

...enables you to enter diagnostic menu, displays error codes, if you have any. It's what you would look at if you had an error code display on start-up ie: flashing turn signal indicators and check engine light..if you dont have an error code on start-up don't mess with it.
