Default is there a difference

Looking at some saddle bag guard rail bags and they say they fit up to '03 touring. Did HD make a change in the guard rails after '03?

Not sure who makes the thing you want, but acording to harley the saddle bag rails are the same from 97 on up, here is a ad from the harley parts book.

Chrome Saddlebag Guard Kit

Each kit comes with rear saddlebag guards, side rails, mounting hardware, and instructions for easy installation.

91216-97

(not shown)

Fits '97-later FLHT, FLHR and '98-'03 FLTR models. (Does not fit '98-later FLHRCI, FLHRS '02-'03 FLHRSEI, '06-later FLHX or Saddlebag Kit P/N 90544-97.)

Thanks Gunrunner. It looks like they will work on an '06 as well.
This is what I'm looking at. From River Road, half the price of HD's

Lookingfurther into things- not sure I've got the same thing being talked about above; my bad. The part number listed is the guard AND rails. I've just got the "guard" - no "rails". Pic in my photo gallery...

I "think" I have the equivalent of 49291-07, but I'm honestly not sure...ANY way...[sm=escape.gif]

Best bet is to check with aknowledgeable parts guy; I know when I took my guards off - the guy at the dealership said I could sell'em for a good buck to people with brand new bikes that didn't come with'em...I just forgot which models he mentioned...
