Default How high?

A couple of years back while crossing the Cedar Mountains on Hwy 14 in the Dixie Natl. Forest in Southern Utah I found myself sucking for air. It started raining so we pulled over to put our rain suits on and then it hit me; We were at the summit and about 10,000 feet. The air was pretty thin compared to 4000 feet 20 minutes ago. We do a lot of long distance trips to places never traveled before and I've been using this "elevation" tool ever since. Maybe you'll find it useful too...

Great site to check prior to heading out but your smartphone will have an app that should also give you that same data. Either way, good stuff while traveling.

My current Gamin GPS has it. Fun to watch while riding in Death Valley as the number go negative.

We rode up pikes peak last fall. Over 14000 ft. Was very fun. Tried running to my bike after realizing I forgot to switch it off and couldn't make it 15 ft without gasping for air.

Pike Peak is on my bucket list. I've ridden to about 11,000 feet but don't have a picture of it. This will have to do.

It was October so it got pretty cold up there, even with the sun out.
My wife and I are not that fat, we are just layered up against the cold. lol

You might want to edit this before your wife sees you said she isn't that fat. Should say isn't FAT.

Been up top of Pikes Peak (14,100) and didn't notice any problems at all. My wife, however, was having a lot of trouble breathing. Pretty much the same at 8,000' in Yellowstone.

The rushmore nav system will show elevation. As do most other nav systems.

They do but I think above 10,000 feet they change to miles for elevation.
