Have you got the instructions they came with? The template is for drilling holes in the lid for both top latches.
Guess it may depend on year, but just helped my dad put these on his 2010 limited and your statement is incorrect. You only have to drill out one latch(one furthest back).
Premium latches come with a template. Is that only used on the left upper latch? I don't want to drill incorrectly. Any help would be great thanks!
Budda, I hope you didn't follow that guys advice. The template is only for the REAR latch (At least on my '06 Ultra). The new front latch is held on by the lock cylinder.
I just installed that kit last week and the instructions, while good, weren't as clear on that as they could have been. I had the template up on the front area, ready to drill when I double checked the instructions.
By the way, I like the premium latches. In the past I had 2 of the stock latches brake; cheap pot metal. 2 weeks ago a third one broke and I told myself "There has to be a better way"! Looked up the premium kit and my local dealer had one in stock. I really like the new ones and how they just "Click" to close.
Go with glasspilots instructions, I just did the exact same latches, jig on the rear . I also installed the hinges, that made a world of difference as well, I thought the lid was going to fall off every time I opened the pack up with the factory tin hinges.
