I just bought a 95 RK for a second bike and I like the style. Here's the question,.....I don't have a manual for her and the guy I bought her from told me he had just put a new carb on her. He said that the manual stated that it was pre set so no adjustments were needed. Well I keep getting a lot of poipping and it won't idle. When I take her out on the road she pops and bucks a bit but once warmed up she runs great......I have an appointment to take her in on Tues. to have her gone over,.....but in the meanwhile I am wondering if it's possible to explain to me how to adjust the carb so as it idles? I'm looking down at it and see a gold screw and there are 2 silver screws on each side. The gold one looks like a main adjustment screw but hey I've never claimed to be a genius but I do trust this site. One other thing,....when I standnext to the bike a crack the throttle sometimes I actually get a flame that shoots out about 10 inches of the right pipe, and when i crack the throttle i see some black smoke.....soooo,....any suggestions will be attempted
So with all that said I take directions well so let me know guys.....
First off nice second Bike. Now what kinda carb are we talking about here? It looks like you have a S&S air box. Do you have a S&S super E carb ? Or is it the stock C/V carb?
Also look around here under the Do it your self area and you will find alot of help that shows pics and explains in detail how to adjust all kinds of carbs.
If you have the Keihin carb , you can find some great info on the DIY section.
I used the info there and have been fiddling with it and have my bike running very well.
If you have some mechanical ability , you won't have any problems tuning it well.
So far I have about $9.00 in mods and I'm about done fiddling.
Let us know what you have and we can get you tuned right up.
